Who we are
Smokespot (“we”, “us”) operates smokespot.xyz — a map-based platform for discovering and sharing spots. This policy explains what data we collect and how it is used.
What we collect
When you use Smokespot, we may collect:
- Google account information — if you sign in with Google, we receive a token confirming your identity. We do not store your Google password, full name, or email address.
- Location data — your approximate map position is sent to our servers to fetch nearby spots. We do not store or log your location.
- User-submitted content — spot names, descriptions, photos, and tags that you submit are stored on our servers.
- Analytics — we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage patterns (pages visited, session duration). This data is anonymised and not linked to your identity.
How we use your data
- To display nearby spots on the map
- To attribute spots and actions (likes, reports) to your account
- To improve the app based on usage patterns
Third parties
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google OAuth — handles sign-in. Google's privacy policy applies to the sign-in flow.
- Google Analytics — collects anonymised usage data.
- Mapbox — renders the map. Mapbox may receive your IP address when map tiles are loaded.
We do not sell your data to any third party.
Data retention
Spots and associated content you submit are stored until you delete them or request removal. We do not retain location data beyond the duration of a single request.
Your rights
You can request deletion of any content you have submitted by contacting us. If you are in the EEA or UK, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to access, correct, or erase your personal data.
